Montgomery hut Reefton West Coast
Could be easy if the weather is kind and the river is down. Could be hard if the river is up and over the track as the high water track is like a bush bash. Hut is nice and good spot to sit and watch the river or fish. Good tramping track after the hut, might be ridable. Track to the hut is all 4WD track with the high water track being tricky through the bush. If you know the river is down then panniers or trailer are fine but if up Backpack or bikepacking bags required.
Lovely views as the track follows the river all the way to the hut.
The start can be a little hard to find as there was no sign there in 2015. Plenty of parking at the track start and some camping near the hut.
