Careys Hut
Starts at the DOC camp site by Lake Mavara. The track saddles the lake shore all the way to the hut. Great views from this easy 4WD track. Fishing from the hut looks good.
Also there are two other huts past the Careys hut. They are the Forks Hut and the Boundary Hut. The Boundary hut is just more 4WD although a little steeper and the Forks hut is single track then a river crossing. You can avoid the single track but not the river crossing.

The ride to these huts is worth it just a day trip, great views. Below is the lake and track before the Careys hut.
The Careys Hut is by far the best hut here, but it is a little busy at times.
the Boundary hut is smaller and like the Careys is on the Te Araroa walking trail.
